“When platforms like Booking.com started dominating the market, I saw a gap,” Majda recalls. “At the time, no one in Croatia was really doing high-end luxury with heart. I wanted storytelling, not just square metres and swimming pools. I wanted guests to feel Hvar.”
And so, in 2011 Villas Hvar took its first official breath — not with a bang but with a beautifully crafted website and a quiet yet radical idea: to create an experience long before the guest has even arrived.
Working with top creatives, Majda curated the visual world of Villas Hvar down to every last detail. The villas were named after Greek gods, a poetic nod to the island’s ancient roots. And she wrote nearly all the content herself, one heartfelt sentence at a time.
“It’s funny now,” she says. “Every villa in Croatia seems to have a Greek god’s name. But back then, people laughed. There were barely ten villas on Hvar in 2012.”
This didn’t deter them. Majda and Dalibor built a brand that was a business and a promise. A vow to villa owners and guests built on trust, integrity and an unwavering commitment to excellence. And their success inspired others.

“If you ask how we are different, I’d say, we know,” adds Majda. “We know every villa location like the back of our hand, what the view is from each window and what’s behind that glossy photo on Instagram. We know the owners personally. We know who will go the extra mile and who won’t. And we say no more often than we say yes.”

Majda, who gives the final green light, is even more exacting. “Every section on our site, whether it’s a cottage or a premium villa has its own criteria. But first, there has to be that something. A spark. A feeling. And no plastic grass on the terrace or unpleasant colours, please.”
